Coming in at number four, we have Sony’s original PlayStation. This is the console that would define generations of Sony Consoles!

Number 3 – Nintendo Game Boy, 118.69 million units
Number three is the Nintendo Game Boy, which, once again, would revolutionize gaming as an essential part of handheld gaming’s history. Nintendo’s newest console, the Nintendo Switch, shows a massive evolution from the Game Boy!

Number 2 – Nintendo DS, 153.99 million units
Our runner-up is essentially the next step up from the Game Boy, the next leap – the Nintendo DS. Made to push handheld gaming even further, the DS sold many units and likely brought joy to many people, while delivering a brand-new handheld gaming experience.

Number 1 – PlayStation 2, 155 million units
The winner in the top five best-selling game consoles of all time is the Sony PlayStation 2. Upgrading and building upon the original PlayStation, Sony created a console that will be remembered by many people for a long time.

Fun Fact: There is a possibility that the Sega Dreamcast could have beaten the PlayStation 2 in this list, but, due to what we’ll call marketing events, Sony was able to push the PlayStation 2 ahead of the Dreamcast, making many people to choose the PlayStation 2 instead. Would the world be a different place if the Dreamcast were in the number 1 spot?
